CPR Classes & CPR Training

CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a set of skills and knowledge that gives you the power to save lives. When you have taken CPR training classes, you will have the expertise to rescue a loved one, co-worker, a child in your charge, or a patient who is counting on you for survival. Certification in CPR is proof that you have achieved the knowledge and skills to perform CPR and rescue those who need your help.

 Why Enroll in CPR Classes?

The knowledge and skills in CPR training are very simple and easy to remember, but they are a specific set of rules and steps that must be learned in a formal setting. Whether you elect hands on training in a classroom setting, or prefer the online experience of videos and examinations, it is paramount that you have the correct information to be prepared to rescue a victim. A CPR card will provide you the confidence and confirmation that you need to respond successfully to an emergency.

CPR Training in Your Career

CPR is a valuable skill that many job descriptions require as mandatory. A certification in CPR is necessary in many professional rescue positions and in jobs that are related to public safety. Lifeguards, emergency medical technicians, most hospital personnel, and people who work in the education field are usually required to hold a current certification in CPR. Those who become certified in CPR are likely to impress a prospective employer; especially if the CPR card is not mandatory. Other fields that may require CPR certification include:

  • Coaches for sports at educational facilities
  • Hiking and Trail Guides
  • Managers and co-workers in the workplace
  • Preschool teachers and staff
  • Airline staff
  • Restaurant workers and bar staff

CPR Training for Your Family and Loved Ones

If you have children, grandchildren, or take care of an elderly parent, it is paramount that you become knowledgeable in CPR. Most accidents and traumatic events occur in the home and over 90 percent of heart attack and stroke victims do not make it to the hospital alive. With only a few moments to save your loved one’s life, it is essential that the prudent parent or caretaker has the information and skills to rescue them. If you know what to do while waiting for the ambulance to arrive, you will be prepared to save the life of someone you love.

What Type of CPR Courses are Available?

  • Basic Life Support
    • Basic Life Support, or BLS, teaches the basics of the chain of survival steps. The training includes how to assist an unconscious person, how to perform compressions on a heart attack or stroke victim, and how to resuscitate a person who is not breathing. BLS training also provides the skills and knowledge of how to apply an automated external defibrillator, or AED, for a person suffering a heart attack.
  • Advance Life Support
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, or ACLS, includes BLS and CPR training for first responders that work as professional rescuers in a medical environment. ACLS includes using medical equipment in the hospital and field to resuscitate and intubate unconscious patients.
  • Online CPR classes
    • Students in online CPR classes watch videos designed and performed by professional medical rescuers that teach the easy to follow steps. Information is provided by text written by professional medical responders and exams are provided online. The online experience is convenient and can be taken anywhere an internet connection is available. Certification is provided after a successful completion of the material.
  • Offline CPR classes
    • Formal classroom training for CPR can usually be found in an area near your location. Depending on the class size, training may last five or six hours. Information is provided and followed by examinations. Once the test is completed, the student will perform chest compressions on a specifically designed mannequin for CPR. After successful completion, the student is awarded a certification in CPR.

What is the Cost of CPR Classes?

Depending on the course description and the instructors involved, CPR courses can range from $20 to over $100 for courses. Online CPR Classes can be more reasonable in price and may even cost less than regular CPR classes.
